My approach to counselling

My name is Sophie Ollin. I am a qualified counsellor (FdA Counselling - University of Plymouth) offering online and face-to-face individual counselling sessions. I work from a dedicated therapy space in Montpelier, Central Bristol. I have worked in mental health settings for fifteen years, both NHS and third sector organization's. I adhere to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy ethical guidelines.

I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches. This allows me to work in response to you rather than taking a set approach. I am an LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse affirmative therapist, and I am committed to a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, inclusive and ethical practice. My work in the NHS and as a private therapist have given me extensive experience of working with a diverse range of people from many different backgrounds, and with individuals presenting with multiple issues or concerns.

I believe it's vital for clients to feel comfortable in the therapy room and that how that looks and feels will differ for each person. I take into account preferences in terms of communication and therapeutic approaches to create an inclusive environment.
